Is the thread impregnated? Sometimes, certain manufacturers boast that they tape their seams which is in fact another way of creating sealed seams. However, by saying this they disclose that they do not use silicone-coated fabrics, which means they rip much more easily (this also applies for fabrics which have silicone on one side). Moreover, the tape can loosen over time resulting in leakage.
